A leading energy solutions provider in Toronto is seeking an experienced engineer to develop electrification solutions for electric vehicle charging and HVAC decarbonization. The role requires strong design skills in electrical infrastructure, with a focus on creating conceptual layouts and conducting site assessments. Job description
Overview

Reporting to the Head of Electrification Solutions, you will be part of a team developing infrastructure solutions for large business and institutional customers involving electric vehicle charging (Fast charging), Battery Storage, Solar PV, and HVAC decarbonization. This role will be split between large scale electrification efforts related to Electric vehicles and HVAC decarbonization. Those with building, HVAC, and medium voltage experience are particularly encouraged to apply, as our decarbonization team and projects expand.

Responsibilities
  • Interface with both internal and external teams to gather requirements.
  • Ensure concept designs align with the long term vision of the client and PowerON teams.
  • Review of drawings being completed by consulting companies to ensure constructability and alignment with full build-out concept drawings.
  • Review engineering drawings for improvements to layout, sizing, and charger technology.
  • Create and own conceptual drawings (SLDs + Floorplans) for full EV electrification.
  • Perform site visits for new projects to develop initial conceptual designs and layouts to facilitate proposal development and costing on a budgetary basis.
  • Work through complex design decisions with multiple stakeholders.
  • Quality control processes, standards and documentation to support companywide processes.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Must be a P.Eng or currently eligible to become a P.Eng.
  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience developing designs and concept layouts for electrical infrastructure.
  • Engineering/Design experience in creating SLDs and layouts for medium and high power applications.
  • Experience performing design and review of electrical infrastructure requiring utility upgrades.
  • Understanding of transformers, switchgear, protection controls, and the Ontario electrical code.
  • Ability to lead, or be part of, a site walk-through and gather sufficient information to create proposals/SLDs/Layouts.
