Educational Resource Worker / Educational Assistant (FT and PT Opportunities) at Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. We are accepting applications for the position of Educational Resource Worker (Educational Assistant). Full Time and Part Time opportunities are available at various schools within Dufferin-Peel.
Position
Location : Various Schools within Dufferin-Peel. Category 3 (Certified) salary : $54,444.00 - $63,032.00 (as of Sept 1, 2025). Category 1 (Uncertified) salary : $45,029.00 - $53,491.00 (as of Sept 1, 2025).
Position Summary
Educational Resource Workers work as collaborative team members to facilitate the inclusion of students with differing abilities / diverse learning needs within our schools and are accountable to the School Principal and / or designate.
Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Support the Catholic Board Learning Plan including the commitment to a Catholic Community, Culture and Caring under the direction of the Principal and / or designate as part of the school team.
- Collaborate with the Special Education team; assist in the identification, development and implementation of strategies and programs to support students identified, engagement, well-being and development, learning strengths and challenges and future needs; provide personalized supports such as appropriate health / medical response, where training has been provided.
- Assist the Special Education team in preparing, developing, modifying and individualizing academic materials and well-being resources for students with differing abilities / diverse learning needs as prescribed in the IEP; include knowledge and use of computer technology and / or other communication supports as deemed appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Special Education team in planning for student planning and facilitate daily or regularly scheduled inclusion and / or transition activities for students with differing abilities / diverse learning needs.
- Observe and monitor the performance of students with differing abilities / diverse learning needs and maintain confidential records; communicate data to appropriate Special Education Team members.
- Consult, plan, prepare and / or attend meetings, IPRCs, Case Conferences, IEPs, planning and / or Transition Meetings and Parent / Guardian Interviews as a member of the Special Education team where appropriate.
- Implement approved programs for students with differing abilities / diverse learning needs in accordance with board policy and procedures; collaborate with the Special Education team and / or external agencies.
- Assist with mobility of students with differing abilities / diverse learning needs including lifts, transfers and positioning to facilitate independence and inclusion, where training has been provided.
- Administer prescribed medications and approved medical procedures and practices under board protocols and / or guidelines with appropriate training; maintain records as directed by the Principal and / or designate.
- Administer First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crises Intervention, where qualified.
- Deliver approved physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy exercises as recommended by a qualified health care professional.
- Collaborate to support development of skills in communication, academic, living, social, fine motor, gross motor and self-care; implement behaviour management plans as directed.
- Support personal care routines (e.g., feeding, toileting, dressing, grooming, hygiene) as required; promote self-care for students.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities; support aligned activities.
- Supervise and support student activities, including excursions and school-to-work programs or personalized learning experiences, as part of the daily schedule.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
Category 3 - Certified
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Educational Assistant (EA), or equivalent as deemed by the Employer.
Category 1 – Uncertified
- Secondary school diploma with entry level knowledge of ECE / EA practices.
- 1 year experience working with students with differing abilities / diverse learning needs preferred.

- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; ability to work as a team member
- High degree of sensitivity and diplomacy
- Flexibility; experience in use of computer technology and / or other communication supports
