Job summary

A leading retail building supply chain in Atlantic Canada is seeking a Freight Handler Supervisor to lead their department in maintaining high safety and customer service standards. The supervisor will communicate directly with associates to ensure they receive necessary guidance and tools while managing performance, training opportunities, and customer concerns. Ideal candidates will have prior supervisory experience and must be able to adapt to changing priorities. This role is crucial in a fast-paced retail environment with a shift from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

  • Must possess means of transportation.

Job Description

Freight Handler Supervisors are responsible for the daily management of their area. This includes executing marketing campaigns, managing inventory, and participating in meetings in addition to the duties of a sales associate. Shifts for this role are 6:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Responsibilities
  • Lead department by demonstrating the highest standards of safety, customer service and merchandising
  • Communicate information and priorities to associates and ensures they have the direction and tools needed to complete their tasks
  • Manage associate performance through feedback and identifying training opportunities
  • Handle associate and customer concerns in a fair and professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Prior supervisory experience in a retail environment is considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Forklift experience is an asset
  • Ability to motivate others through their positive attitude to always be improving
  • Demonstrate the drive and commitment needed to reach goals
  • Shiftavailability: 6:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Must have a means of transportation
  • Ability to perform manual labor
  • Willingness to be trained on machine operation
