Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequate staffing resources and maintain Health Screening competencies.

  • Complete non-conformances and Reaction / Incident Reports promptly.
  • Manage overtime, sick time, and absenteeism effectively.
  • Coach and mentor staff in techniques such as venipuncture.

Overview

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular part-time Donor Centre Supervisor to join our dynamic Collections Operations Kelowna team.

The Collections Team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives. In this role you will assist in the collection of blood and blood products ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and all required documentation is carried out. You will play an integral part in building and promoting a positive donor experience and encouraging donations.

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular part-time Donor Centre Supervisor to join our dynamic Collections Operations Kelowna team.

Responsibilities
  • Drawing on your ability to be proactive and take initiative, ensure adequate staffing resources (in some locations may be required to maintain Health Screening competencies).
  • Utilize your detail orientation to ensure collection and quality control processes are performed in accordance with regulatory and corporate specifications.
  • Apply organizational skills to complete non-conformances and Reaction / Incident Reports in a timely manner and provide feedback to staff.
  • Draw on managerial experience to observe trends and manage overtime, sick time and absenteeism; interview and hire staff and manage staff performance.
  • Utilize leadership skills to coach and mentor staff and correct techniques such as venipuncture.
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing plus three years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration with BCCNM.
  • Fosters an environment that values donor-centered care, innovation, adaptability, flexibility and critical thinking.
  • Models the advocate role as it relates to donor care.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify variances and implement strategies that lead to desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide individuals toward the vision of the organization while fostering teamwork and commitment to excellence in donor care.

What You Can Expect
  • Applicant must be willing to travel and must be available for Mondays to Fridays. Hours of work are based on a 52-week rotation. Work days can include Mondays to Fridays. Rest days are Saturdays and Sundays. Shift start and stop times are 00:01-60:00.
  • There may be the occasional 3 overnights in Kamloops.
  • Transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services.
  • Physical requirements for this role include the ability to lift up to 10 kg (22 lbs).
