Job description
Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Manager to lead our team and oversee daily operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a proven track record in leading/managing clinical teams service families with frail seniors living with multiple chronic illnesses. This role requires a commitment to excellence in Nursing and Therapeutic Recreation services, team development, and operational efficiency. As a Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring quality care/services at a stand alone adult day centre, managing budgets, and ensuring the highest professional standards and operational-related regulations are upheld.

Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with Senior Leadership Team, implements designated responsibilities from Renfrew Collingwood Seniors Society strategic plan.
  • Manages resources with monthly review of operational budget/petty cash expenses, and the development of action plans. Reviews contracted agency budgets and responsibilities in terms of established contract performance criteria and liaises with agency to establish required action plans.
  • Applies established criteria and prioritizes intake/admissions, leads and ensures staffing levels are aligned with needs of clients, ensures current and evidenced Nursing and Recreation practice are implemented, plans for appropriate discharge processes in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders, such as clients, family members, Health Authority Home Health representative, Executive Director.
  • Supervises nursing, recreation, and kitchen staff and coordinates the work of the team overall on a day-to-day basis, observes work and corrects where necessary, monitors the quality of care and the safety of clients, assigns, and adjusts work assignments, schedules and coordinates staff, monitors and may authorize staff hours of work, including vacations, leave requests, while ensuring service levels and staffing requirements are met.
  • Interprets, applies and ensures operational and service contract plans meet accepted operational and/or contractual requirements, professional standards, collective agreement or other standards and legislated/contractual obligations. Investigates complaints or grievances and collaborates with Executive Director to develop response to complaints or grievances.
  • Supports quality client care and excellence in practice by promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and team building, supporting staff to plan and carry out client/family education regarding illness prevention and health maintenance, acting as a mentor and resource to staff, role modeling best practices, assessing clinical skills and by coaching staff and/or liaising with adult day center leaders to help achieve established performance goals.
  • Initiates/leads/supports plan of care/recreation conferences, daily huddles, weekly care planning meetings for the purpose of optimal client care management according to best practice; disseminates clinical information to nursing and recreation staff.
  • Identifies learning requirements of staff and, in conjunction with Executive Director, provides input into the development of learning objectives, provides support and guidance and evaluates the effectiveness of learning opportunities.
  • Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities by methods such as evaluating effect of changes in practice, generating recommendations for alternative approaches to practices, conducting safety audits, supporting implementation teaching/learning when required, and fostering an environment of innovation and critical thinking.
  • Provides input into the development of a comprehensive orientation program, in collaboration with the Executive Director and senior leadership team.
  • Acts as a point person for clients and families who have concerns or questions regarding services; follow-ups as required. Participates in or leads the investigation of complaints by clients/families; follow-ups on complaints and impl.
