Description

Modern Beauty was established in Calgary, AB, in 1986. Today, we are Canada’s largest family‑owned supplier with over 60 stores across Canada. At Modern, we are the exclusive distributor of numerous product lines recognized worldwide. We are recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for our continuous expansions, progressive thinking, and our ability to accommodate our growing client base while ensuring our employees are treated like family.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic District Manager to oversee our retail operations across Alberta and British Columbia, including locations in Calgary, Airdrie, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Kelowna, and Kamloops.

As a District Manager at Modern Beauty, you’ll lead and inspire multiple retail locations to deliver exceptional customer experiences, achieve sales goals, and uphold company standards. You’ll act as the key link between your stores and Head Office—driving performance, fostering engagement, and ensuring operational excellence across your district.

This role requires a hands‑on leader with strong business acumen, people management skills, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with day‑to‑day execution.

A district manager is responsible for 10 or more stores. The stores you are responsible for are subject to change at the discretion of Modern based on the needs of the company.

Job Responsibilities
  • Act as the main link between Head Office and stores, conducting regular visits and ensuring consistent communication.
  • Monitor district performance, analyze trends, and develop plans to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Support and motivate teams to reach sales goals through product knowledge, promotions, and excellent customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, policies, and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with HR on hiring, training, and performance management to build strong, engaged teams.
  • Review schedules, staffing, and expenses to maintain cost efficiency and proper coverage.
  • Conduct Store Performance Assessments, provide feedback, and coach store managers for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee new store setups, logistics, and maintenance, ensuring all locations meet company standards.
  • Handle incidents such as theft or break‑ins and take preventive measures.
  • Partner with other District Managers to share best practices and support overall business success.
  • Participate in management meetings and training sessions as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of multi‑unit management experience (retail or beauty industry preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze business data and make effective decisions.
  • Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills; able to prioritize multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated success in building and motivating high‑performing teams.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to travel regularly to stores within your district.
  • Proficient with POS systems, MS Office Suite, and general business reporting tools.

If you qualify for this position and believe you would be a good fit, please submit your resume. We wish to thank all applicants for their interest. Please note that only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
