Overview

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance to lead financial operations across Canada and the U.S. This role will oversee all core finance functions, drive scalable systems and controls, and serve as a key partner in growth, compliance, and investor engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Overseeing all finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting functions across Canada and the U.S.
  • Designing and implementing scalable financial systems, processes, and controls that meet both Canadian and U.S. standards.
  • Managing cash flow, working capital, and capital allocation to support growth and operational needs.
  • Leading financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including scenario modeling and risk management.
  • Ensuring compliance with Canadian and U.S. tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting fundraising, investor relations, and board reporting.
  • Partnering with leadership to evaluate new business models, pricing strategies, and market expansion.
  • Coordinating with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel in both Canada and the U.S.
  • Building and mentoring a high-performing finance and accounting team.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in corporate finance, accounting, and FP&A.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience working with Canadian and U.S. financial reporting, tax, and compliance.
  • Prior experience in a high-growth startup or venture-backed company.
  • Familiarity with SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or gaming / technology industries is a strong asset.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP (U.S. and Canadian) / IFRS.
  • Proven track record supporting fundraising and investor relations.
  • Advanced financial modeling and reporting skills; ERP / accounting system implementation experience.
