The Director, Finance Business Partner (FBP) for Technology & Operations drives fit‑for‑purpose reporting, analytics, and insights on cost and workforce to support effective decision‑making.

The successful candidate will have proven experience partnering with business and/or technology functions, combining strong financial acumen, relationship management, and agility to enable informed decisions and contribute to CPP Investments’ overall objectives.

Role‑specific accountabilities
  • Deliver integrated insights: Provide a holistic view of key operating and cost metrics by leveraging data, technology, and cross‑functional partnerships across departments. Collaborate closely with T&O’s strategy and business management teams, and senior management teams.
  • Develop impactful reporting: Produce concise, relevant, and actionable financial analysis that enables department leaders and senior management to make informed decisions, while ensuring consistency at the enterprise level.
  • Coordinate enterprise reporting: Ensure alignment and accuracy of messaging across departments and audiences. Lead the preparation of quarterly departmental management reports and contribute to Board reports.
  • Guide financial planning: Support annual and long‑range business planning by developing budgets that align with departmental strategies and enterprise expectations ahead of the fiscal year.
  • Advise proactively: Anticipate reporting and analytical needs arising from mandate or business changes, establishing trusted advisor relationships with business and senior management teams.
  • Enhance analytics capabilities: Partner with Finance colleagues to develop self‑serve tools and multi‑dimensional dashboards that meet evolving departmental and enterprise analytical needs.
  • Champion performance culture: Foster a high‑performance, continuously improving environment that values innovation, learning, quality, and talent development.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience (8+ years) in deriving actionable insight from both qualitative and quantitative information, and communicating such insights effectively to senior leaders.
  • Strategic mindset with strong problem‑solving skills and intellectual curiosity; able to distill complex information into clear, practical insights.
  • Sound understanding of cost concepts and methodologies, prior experience in Finance, Planning & Analysis function an asset.
  • Exceptional relationship management and influencing skills, balancing partnership and independent oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to articulate complex ideas in plain language.
  • Proven experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and implementing business solutions collaboratively.
  • Commitment to CPP Investments’ Guiding Principles: integrity, partnership, and high performance.
  • Experience within an asset management context, such as a global multi‑strategy fund, public or private pension fund, or sovereign wealth fund.
