Overview

Cavendish Farms is seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Environmental Sustainability to lead the development, execution and evolution of our sustainability strategy. This role is critical in shaping the company’s environmental mission, driving performance across key sustainability metrics, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.

Role Location: Prince Edward Island (Charlottetown or New Annan)

Yearly Salary Range: $140,000 - 160,000

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and evolution of Cavendish Farms’ environmental sustainability strategy, including policy, governance, performance metrics, and reporting.
  • Establish methods to link sustainability performance to business outcomes (e.g., fuel, energy, water, waste).
  • Monitor and assess emerging sustainability issues and regulatory developments at regional, national, and global levels.
  • Oversee sustainability reporting, including GHG emissions, customer rankings, and internal dashboards.
  • Liaise with government and non-governmental organizations
  • Work directly with operations to ensure customer ESG requirements are met
  • Direct auditing programs to minimize environmental risks and ensure compliance.
  • Advise business units on regulatory impacts and support cost-effective compliance strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MSc or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in strategic partnerships with customers and both government and non-governmental organizations in an ESG setting
  • Strong business acumen and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence
  • Experience in the fields of agriculture and/or consumer packaged goods is a strong asset
