This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere.

What you'll do

Reporting to the VP, DOTComm, you will lead the transformation of TELUS's data management capabilities by establishing and directing a centralized Data Centre of Excellence. Drive strategic data governance, architecture, and stewardship to enable seamless, hyper-personalized customer experiences while supporting data-driven decision-making across Marketing, Customer, and Channel functions.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Transformation
  • Establish and lead a centralized Data COE driving omni-channel transformation and data-driven culture across CMC functions
  • Develop comprehensive data strategy aligned with business objectives and provide strategic guidance on data product prioritization
Data Governance & Architecture
  • Design unified data architecture and governance frameworks, consolidating fragmented systems and eliminating platform duplication
  • Implement Data Product Owner framework across key domains (Rep Interaction, CX, Campaign, Transaction) with clear accountability structures
  • Lead and develop 25+ data professionals including architects, analysts, and stewards while fostering cross-functional relationships with CIO, CPO, and business units
  • Build Data Product Owner capabilities and establish talent development programs across the organization
Operational Excellence & Analytics
  • Oversee end-to-end data lifecycle from collection to visualization, ensuring standardized practices and quality metrics
  • Direct Value Management Team to analyze transactional data and deliver actionable insights for revenue/margin optimization and strategic decision-making
Qualifications

What you bring

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business (Master's preferred) with 10+ years in data management/analytics and 5+ years leading large data teams
  • Must have proven experience establishing and scaling data governance frameworks in large organizations with deep understanding of data quality management and compliance
  • Needs expertise with cloud data platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), modern data architecture patterns (data lakes, data mesh), and familiarity with visualization tools and ML/AI capabilities
  • Requires experience with enterprise data architecture, platforms, modern data stack technologies, and preferably background in telecommunications or data-intensive industries
  • Must demonstrate ability to lead transformation initiatives, manage cross-functional stakeholders, and build high-performing teams in matrix organizations
  • Strong business acumen to translate technical capabilities into business value and excellent communication skills for executive-level presentations

Salary Range: $128,000-$192,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 30%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
