Qualifications

As a valued member of our culinary team, you will assist with plating and serving meals, and will be responsible for cleaning serving areas and equipment, while following established policies, procedures, and standards. This position is for our Trillium Court Home, located in Kincardine, ON.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, observing time limits for meal serving, and maintaining proper serving temperatures.
  • Assist cooks in cleaning and preparing uncooked foods such as salads, vegetables, and fruits. Follow basic instructions in preparing simple foods like breakfast items, desserts, and garnishes.
  • Clear plates and trays, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and utensils as per procedure.
  • Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environmental safety, and infection control.
  • Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
  • Participate in facility meetings and attend in-service education programs as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
What You Bring
  • High School Diploma or higher academic certification.
  • Degree or diploma in nutrition or food service program is an asset.
  • Previous dietary skills, knowledge, and experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality food service environments are assets.
  • Must meet physical requirements, including standing for long periods, moderate to heavy lifting, and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and write in English, and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work safely by following established safety practices and procedures.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
  • Must provide a current (within three months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one.
