Purpose of the Position

Diesel Service Attendants move, fuel, clean, test and perform basic repairs on locomotives in a fast‑paced, safety‑oriented environment in compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and enjoys working outdoors.

Position Accountabilities
  • Fuel, sand locomotives and re‑supply cab amenities as required
  • Perform inspections and basic repairs on all locomotives, fuel tanks, and cab equipment
  • Evaluate parts for reuse or replacement
  • Service locomotive cabs, including cleaning cab walls, toilets, windows, and floors
  • Test all cab electrical devices, set up cab brakes as per operational requirements, test all safety devices, and ensure crew-to-crew forms are completed
  • Other duties as required per the collective agreement
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working around heavy equipment
  • Availability to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and all weather conditions
  • Ability to pass required written examinations and read and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations, and other written or printed material in English
  • Proven dedication to safety and ability to complete work within guidelines and rules
