Position Summary

We are looking for a Detailed Production Scheduler based at our Toronto location. This role will be responsible for providing consistently short-term finite capacity-constrained production plans with optimized product sequence utilizing production lines, labor and material in the most efficient manner while ensuring products are available with high freshness and at the right stock level to meet business demand whilst minimizing cost. This role ensures the availability of materials to fulfill the production plans within agreed cost boundaries. The role addresses issues and upgrades that will make the system more efficient. Detailed Production Scheduler works closely with the Detailed Production Scheduler team to seek direction and alignment for long-term production plan, Co-Man to ensure communication and Suppliers to ensure material supply to factory.

A day in the life of a Detailed Production Scheduler

As a Detailed Production Scheduler, you will be leading all aspects of Planning and Scheduling to ensure delivery of production volumes including scheduling, supplier coordination, inventory management, participating in Capital and Innovation projects, warehouse personnel and close collaboration with Production teams to develop a culture of trust and to cultivate the best by inspiring, challenging and promoting performance culture.

You will
  • Create optimum production schedule utilizing line, labor and material in the most efficient ways and manage delivery to meet business needs with the collaboration of all relevant stakeholders, production being the primary partner.
  • Continually monitor existing processes and procedures to implement improvements to achieve production objectives using capacity planning, de‑bottlenecking, optimization of run sizes, improved sequencing, etc.
  • Collaborate with Demand and Supply Planning team to seek direction on business needs and ACTs to deliver the demand.
  • Manage the capacity and coordinate with all departments to maximize overall effectiveness and efficiency of the operation to deliver the business volumes.
  • Participate in Innovation and Renovation Projects and ensure planning and material requirements are met in time.
  • Create an optimized replenishment plan for raw and packaging materials over the planning horizon that ensures supply of material to production whilst ensuring that the working capital targets for raw and packaging materials are met.
  • Monitor supply signals using MRP purchase requisitions ensuring delivery dates, lead times and required quantities are correct and finally create purchase orders and ensure their fulfillment by the supplier.
  • Manage directly with the defined supplier the delivery of materials: this includes creating, sending, confirming, receiving, investigating errors and discrepancies on blocked or parked invoice lines, and handling all exception issues in those operations, including claims management.
  • Define the stock policy and management approach to be applied to each material considering the site constraints.
  • Lead the inbound movement of all goods. External: carrier selection, load planning, and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Internal: space planning, equipment, and resource management.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with Co‑Man, Logistics, carriers, and suppliers.
  • Be responsible for all investigations and root cause analysis related to material supply incidents.
  • Provide direction to the Buyer to ensure the facility maintains an efficient inventory level to meet requirements, validate materials usage transactions and associated variances.
  • Act as backup for Material and Warehouse Team Leader.

Requirements
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Production Planner/Scheduler in manufacturing operations, preferably within a unionized environment.
  • Completion of University Degree or Community College Diploma in a related field.
  • Strong computer skills, working knowledge of SAP, intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to respond to changing demands with short notice and be proactive in managing the needs of the operation.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving and leadership skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong team‑working skills required to excel within a team environment.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, strong initiative, customer‑service focused attributes.
  • Excellent prioritization and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Flexible to work overtime and over the weekend as per business needs.
