Job Title: Data Engineer
Reports to: Director, Information Technology
Type: 1-Year Term, Full-time (Commencing March 1, 2026)

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the Data Engineer will be responsible for building and managing data pipelines to support enterprise data and analytics initiatives. This position will focus on optimizing these pipelines and ensuring they are ready for use by analysts, decision-makers and other stakeholders needing curated data. This position involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and providing training on data tools and products.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines to manage growing data volumes and complexity, ensuring seamless integration with APIs Optimize data pipelines for production, ensuring efficient, reliable movement of data from source systems to end-users.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to uphold compliance standards, champion responsible data usage, and evaluate curated content for effective reuse.
- Develop and implement systems to monitor data quality and ensure accuracy for stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve data issues, write test scripts, and maintain documentation to support data reliability and clarity.
- Automate data processes and workflows, reducing manual effort and errors while boosting efficiency.
- Enhance data infrastructure, supporting upgrades to data management systems, enabling automation and improve integration.
- Learning and applying advanced data tools and AI enabled metadata management.
- Monitoring schema changes and recommending or automating integration workflows.
- Work closely with data science teams, business analysts and other stakeholders to refine data and analytics requirements and support data consumption needs.
- Partner with analytics and business teams to improve data models for business intelligence tools, promoting accessibility and data-driven decisions.
- Coordinate with frontend and backend engineers, product managers, and analysts to align on data strategies.
- Work with business unit and engineering teams to plan a long-term data platform architecture.
- Stay informed about new data initiatives and use domain knowledge to address evolving data requirements with innovative techniques for ingestion, preparation, integration, and operationalization.
- Train system technicians, data scientists, analysts and other users in data pipelining and preparation methods to help them easily integrate and utilize the data for their own use cases.
Selection Criteria include:
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5 + years of Python, R, or similar development experience
- 5 + years of SQL experience (non-relational database experience is considered an asset)
- 5+ years experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling
- Ability in managing and communication data warehouse plans to internal clients.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems.
- Experience working with Boomi, MuleSoft, Informatica, or other modern API integration platforms.
- Experience working with Microsoft Data Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, or other modern cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong writing skills as well as the ability to articulate IT-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
- Experience with problem/incident response.
- Experience with developing processes and written procedures.
- Experience with developing infrastructure metrics and creating reports.
- Effectively manages change and pressure and ability to manage change and pressure
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment with a strong customer service orientation.
