A major financial institution in Calgary is seeking a Data Centre Capacity & Delivery Lead. This role focuses on optimizing data centre capacity and managing complex infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be accountable for planning and delivering data center solutions, leading a global team, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. What is the opportunity?
The Data Centre Capacity & Delivery Lead is accountable for ensuring that enterprise and regional data centre capacity, white space, power, and delivery capabilities are proactively planned, optimized, and executed to meet current and future business demand. The role’s primary focus is on white space readiness, space and power management, capacity forecasting, and data quality, ensuring the data center estate can safely and efficiently meet business and platform demand. These activities drive and prioritize the delivery portfolio, including optimization initiatives, co-location builds, data centre moves, and workload migrations.
Data Centre Optimization, Capacity Management & Continuous Improvement.
Drive enterprise and regional data centre capacity planning and forecasting to ensure alignment with business growth and technology strategy.
Design and maintain comprehensive, multi-year capacity and delivery roadmaps that support long-term business objectives and technological advancements.
Identify and unlock data centre capacity through targeted optimization efforts, including strategic investments where necessary, to maximize efficiency and scalability.
Implement a unified approach to forecasting and capacity planning.
Data Centre Transformations.
Lead end-to-end data centre migrations, consolidations, and site exits, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal disruption.
Oversee white space readiness, optimization, and infrastructure delivery, including buildouts and expansions to meet evolving capacity demands.
Ensure core network, server, and infrastructure preparedness to support migration and operational continuity.
Manage workload migration and cutover activities, including weekend and out-of-hours execution, to align with business and technology requirements.
Partner closely with business and technology teams to plan, coordinate, and execute migrations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational efficiency.
Drive enablement and continuous improvement of IMAC processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery across global data centres.
Delivery governance, Risk and controls.
Serve as the single point of accountability for all data centre delivery outcomes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and business needs.
Develop and implement governance structures, performance metrics, and reporting mechanisms to monitor capacity and delivery execution effectively.
Lead and mentor a diverse, globally distributed team, fostering cross-training, skill development, and standardized methodologies to drive consistency and innovation.
Embrace a dynamic role that evolves with organizational maturity, increasingly focusing on strategic forecasting, automation, and investment optimization to future-proof data centre operations.
Must have:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Extensive experience in datacentre operations, capacity management, or infrastructure delivery.
Proven leadership of complex, multi-site infrastructure delivery initiatives.
Experience managing globally distributed delivery teams.
Demonstrated accountability for delivery outcomes, not just coordination.
Demonstrated experience leading delivery of:
Data centre buildouts, expansions, and white space readiness/optimization.
Enterprise and Co-location facility projects and large-scale data centre moves/migrations.
Capacity-unlock initiatives and infrastructure modernization programs.
Strong data literacy with expertise in reconciling, validating, and leveraging data across multiple operational systems to drive insights.
Ability to apply structured delivery and project management techniques as a capability, not a role identity.
Proven stakeholder, vendor, and partner leadership skills.
Comfortable operating with ambiguity while improving data quality and decision confidence.
Flexibility to support out-of-hours and weekend delivery activity.
Professional certifications in infrastructure, engineering, or program delivery e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 or Data Centre certifications (CDCMP, CDCPM).
Experience operating within large, regulated, or mission-critical environments.
Experience transitioning organizations from reactive to strategic capacity management.
Experience with formal capacity modelling and forecasting.
Experience with ServiceNow; imVision; Nlyte products.
