Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Ensure shipments are not delayed at border by accurately completing documentation or providing information to ensure documentation is complete within pre-assigned time limits
- Ensure customs paperwork are legal and accurate documents
- Examine all incoming customs invoices to check for accuracy of weights, values, tariff codes, quantity, GST, duty and excise tax
- Flag shipments that may require amendment and pass appropriate information along to Team Leader to avoid fines
- Track shipments to ensure shipments have been released by customs – go online and track entries by reference number, print copy and attach to customs document
- Prepare and apply for Import Permits
- Ensure customs information and knowledge is constantly kept up to date
- Coordinate with other internal staff regarding any customs issues
- Liaison between various levels of government and customs officials.
Shift
Monday - Friday 3pm-11:30pm
Qualifications
The following skills, experience and qualifications are required:
- Customs experience, knowledge of the CBSA processes
- Excellent written and verbal English Communication skills
- Strict attention to detail and strong sense of urgency
- Innovative, flexible, able to deal with change
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively and efficiently, manage multiple accounts and work well under pressure
- Excellent problem solving and mathematical skills
- Excellent customer service skills and diplomacy to deal with difficult people
- Strong computer skills
- Self direct and self motivated and a team player that enjoys a values driven organization
