We are looking for a highly motivated accountant to join our corporate accounting group on a full-time basis as an integral member of our finance team. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, open to new challenges, have excellent communication skills, and have previous accounting experience, a professional accounting designation (CPA), or be enrolled in the CPA program.

As part of the corporate accounting group, you will provide analytical and accounting support on a variety of topics, while learning and understanding all components of our accounting cycles and become a subject matter expert ("SME") in a specific area of our business. As an SME, you will become the go-to person for financial information in that area, including training other accountants and preparing reports for senior finance team members. We believe in continuous employee development and will rotate you through various SME areas. The result is a well-rounded professional that is promotable to other roles within finance. You will also be the lead for undertaking projects and process improvements within your SME and strive for continuous improvement and streamlining of existing processes.

You’ll Do:
  • Preparation and processing of various month-end duties, including journal entries, financial statement packages, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Detailed financial analysis.
  • Being a key resource concerning adherence to standards (IFRS) and our corporate accounting policies and procedures.
  • Gaining exposure to various areas of our business operations, including but not limited to accounts payable, payroll, sales accounting, fixed assets and financial reporting.
  • Review of accounting working papers and support documentation for SOX.
  • Participate in user testing and maintenance for financial business systems.
  • Ad-hoc projects as assigned.
You have:
  • Obtained your CPA or are working towards completion of an accounting designation, CPA preferred.
  • A minimum of 2‑3 years of full‑cycle accounting work experience and/or work experience in a public company or accounting firm.
  • Accounts payable experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detailed and proactive approach to work.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, ability to manage pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Possess a self‑motivated personality with passion to solve problems.
  • Has a desire to progress up to more challenging roles requiring different and varied skills as openings become available within the department.
  • Strong computer literacy, including effective working skills in Microsoft Word.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel.
  • Prior experience working with Oracle EBS, EPM or JDE will be considered an asset.
  • Forest industry experience preferred but not required.
