A major educational institution in Canada is seeking a Coordinator for the Building Intercultural Resilience Mentorship program. The role involves developing and implementing pathways for Indigenous youth to access mentorship and post-secondary education. Ideally suited for candidates with strong communication and relationship-building skills, this position offers a unique opportunity to support Indigenous students in their educational journey. The contract is term-based, with a salary range contingent on qualifications.

The Oyateki Partnership, through the Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement, seeks to transform Indigenous youth’s lives. The Building Intercultural Resilience Mentorship (BIRM) Program supports Indigenous youth attending high school. The BIRM Grads Pathways Coordinator will develop and implement a pathways program to help high‑school graduates access mentorship, post‑secondary and career planning, employment, community building, socio‑economic barrier support, and participation in cultural, educational and skill‑building gatherings.
This unique position is housed within the Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement and is directly connected to the Oyateki Partnership. The coordinator will work with BIRM staff, the Office of the Vice Provost, and external stakeholders to develop the program, assess outcomes, manage student registration, promote the program, and provide one‑to‑one coaching.
Completion of a post‑secondary degree in a related field such as Social Work or Education is an asset. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
The ideal candidate has strong relationship‑building and communication skills, can work independently and with a team, is an efficient organizer, and has a strong connection to Indigenous culture, values and community. Familiarity with high‑school graduation requirements and a robust understanding of post‑secondary institutions and local opportunities are necessary. The candidate should be able to build community relationships, facilitate group and 1:1 advising, and navigate diverse participant needs. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required; experience with Canva or similar design tools is an asset.
The schedule is adaptive to participant and community needs and may require evening and weekend work.
