itec group is partnered with a leading manufacturer of custom automated equipment seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful integration, installation, and ongoing maintenance of HMI/PLC systems, packaging machinery, and related equipment for their clients. The ideal candidate will have experience with industrial automation, systems integration, troubleshooting, and an ability to work in a fast-paced, solution-oriented environment.

Daily Responsibilities May Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Lead and participate in the installation, configuration, and integration of custom automation systems and packaging equipment, ensuring seamless operation with existing customer infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems, hardware, and software, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and other industrial devices.
  • Work closely with clients to assess their needs and ensure the systems are tailored to their specific requirements. Provide support during the commissioning phase and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system diagrams, installation guides, and user manuals. Prepare reports on system performance, issues, and resolutions for internal and client use.
  • Train client teams on the proper operation and maintenance of integrated systems. Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to ensure long-term success and reliability of the systems.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in systems integration, industrial automation, or related fields.
  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, sensors, and industrial automation technologies.
  • Strong understanding of networking, communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP), and system integration practices.
  • Proficient with troubleshooting and diagnostic tools for automation systems.
  • Familiarity with packaging equipment and machinery is a strong asset.
  • Canadian Passport is required; willingness to travel to client sites up to 30%

Salary Range: 70k to 80k + paid OT, benefits, RRSP.
