Overview

Join a reputable and growing organization based in Tsawwassen, BC! Our client is a well-established and respected leader in their field, currently looking to add an experienced Controller to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to take on a key leadership role within a dynamic and community-focused organization. The ideal candidate will be a designated CPA with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

About the Position

Reporting to the Director, the controller will be responsible for managing a team of 3+ accountants. Some of the duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the daily accounting activities and financial transactions for all the government operations and related entities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting process and lead ongoing forecasting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for multiple entities.
  • Lead and manage annual audit processes, including any special purpose audits.
  • Stay current on relevant legislation, funding agreements, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Provide training, analysis, and recommendations to department managers to aid decision-making.
  • Present financial information to leadership, staff, and departments.
  • Respond promptly to financial inquiries from members, auditors, and funding partners.
Requirements
  • Designated CPA
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Public practice experience is an asset
  • Experience working with government, non-profit, or Indigenous organizations.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary: $52 to $61 per hour
  • Extended health and dental, 100% paid by employer
  • BC Municipal Pension Plan – employee contributes 8.61%, employer contributes 9.31%
  • 3 weeks’ vacation and paid time off at Christmas.
  • 15 Personal days per year
  • Hybrid working model.
