Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in contract management, procurement, or purchasing
- Post-secondary education in business, law, and/or paralegal studies preferred
- Legal training is an asset
- Willingness to pursue professional designation from the International Association of Contract and Commercial Managers (“IACCM”)
- Strong understanding of contract management, legal principles, and language
- Knowledge of the individual businesses and their needs
- Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills
- Experience with contract workflow and repository software (e.g., Jaggaer) is preferred
- Process improvement and reporting skills are a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Self-starter with results-oriented approach and high sense of urgency
- Highly organized, attentive to detail, proactive, and responsive
- Effective time management, prioritization, and target achievement skills
Responsibilities:
- Advise Sales Team and Senior Leaders on contract management processes, terms, and industry best practices. Provide guidance on contract terms, including resolution of complex contractual and business matters, ensuring adherence to the Canadian Grocery Code and maintaining high-quality contract documentation.
- Assist in drafting, editing, and negotiating contractual terms, addressing legal risks in collaboration with Irving Counsel. Coordinate across divisions as needed. Lead and facilitate the contract execution process.
- Manage all aspects of the contract lifecycle for Sales, from creation and negotiation to administration, compliance tracking, and renewal or termination. Use our CRM platform for documentation and compliance monitoring.
- Develop expertise in the Canadian Grocery Code of Conduct, serve as the subject matter expert for the Sales Team, and monitor for breaches, reporting as necessary.
- Partner with Legal on contract reviews and approvals. Prioritize and finalize contracts with accuracy. Collaborate on legal training, best practices, tools, and templates for the Sales organization.
