What is the Opportunity?

As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon‑led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with the deployment of Continuous Improvement activities and initiatives.

What You’ll Do Here:
  • Assist with process, tools, personnel, and workshops with lessons learned.
  • Assist with and plan key problem‑solving workshops, follow through and track actions with owners to ensure effectiveness of countermeasures implemented.
  • Assist with Building Smarter Innovations program on site.
  • Assist in triage process and categorization of incoming items to ensure closed‑loop system is being adhered to.
  • Assist CI Manager in rollout and communications of Excellence in Nuclear Construction (ENC) Initiative.
  • Schedule, attend and help facilitate workshops in rollout of ENC workshops.
  • Follow up on Action Tracking with owners to ensure timely rollout of phased approach of ENC.
  • Assist with planning activities implementation (T‑Process, Last Planner System) as implemented in project.
  • Actively promote a nuclear safety culture to all levels of the project teams and support Human Performance program management.
  • Gather metrics and create reports and scorecards where required.
  • Train key staff and conduct paired Waste Walks both in field and office setting.
  • Assist with implementation and ongoing maintenance of a BIG Room.
  • Schedule, provide input and administrative oversight of Layered Leadership Models as it is kicked off in projects.
  • Train project support and construction personnel on Waste Walk and Waste elimination methodologies and provide oversight where required.
What You Bring to the Team:
  • Post‑secondary education in Engineering or Business.
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Previous experience using Electronic Document Management Systems is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to be self‑motivated and work effectively with minimal direction.
  • Effective organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a high‑pressure work environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
