Job description

Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working at our head office in Ottawa (1800 Alta Vista Drive) and will be working a mixture of on‑site and off‑site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in‑person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

Salary/Rate of pay: $89,894 to $108,493

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full‑time Consultant, Employee Experience to join our dynamic Talent Strategy team in our People, Culture and Performance division.

The Talent Strategy team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by leading the processes to prepare the workforce for the future and to support the effectiveness of the division.

In this role, you will be accountable for leading and supporting efforts that improve delivery of Canadian Blood Services commitment to an engaging an empowering employee experience. The primary focus will be leading the design and delivery of initiatives under our employee experience strategy and roadmap to drive engagement and deliver an experience where all employees feel respected, connected and valued.

  • In close collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization and utilizing your demonstrated knowledge and expertise, you will be responsible for leading key initiatives to improve employee experience, with a particular focus on frontline employee experience.
  • Leveraging your strong organizational skills and attention to detail, you will be responsible for establishing ongoing processes for overseeing execution against the employee experience strategy and roadmap and monitoring impact.
  • You will leverage data and insights to identify, prioritize and develop solutions for gaps in the employee experience. Drawing on your ability to present information in a clear and compelling way, you will present updates to key sponsors across the organization.
  • Applying your strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence without authority, you will provide thought leadership and recommendations on future initiatives in employee experience.
Desired education and skills
  • Completion of a university degree, preferably a graduate degree, in Social Sciences with specialization courses in statistics, research methodology and Human Resources.
  • 5+ years’ experience in understanding trends and leading practices in employee experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in design, development, implementation, measurement and continuous improvement of employee experience.
  • Experience in leading efforts using user experience design method and principles.
  • Strong experience in project management.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, presentation) and strong ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences at all levels.
  • Consulting experience is preferable.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
