Job description
Overview

Community Employment Facilitator. The Community Centre Alliance (CCA) is dedicated to alleviating poverty at the grassroots level by offering community-based programs and services that focus on education, literacy, and employment. This is a contract position ending March 31, 2026, with potential for extension.

Position Location: McSheffrey Resource Centre, 10 Brother McSheffrey Lane, St. John's, NL

Responsibilities
  • Conduct client intake to gather information on personal history, work experience, education, and skills
  • Assess client needs and assist in developing personalized employment and educational goals using various tools and methods
  • Provide individualized support including:
    • Resume and cover letter development
    • Interview skills training
    • Assistance with applications for jobs, EI, student loans, scholarships, and other services
    • Career development and labour market information
    • Guidance on secondary and post-secondary options
  • Offer ongoing follow-up and career maintenance support
  • Determine eligibility and refer clients to pre-employment and life skills programs
  • Utilize knowledge of community resources to refer and support clients
  • Develop and facilitate group workshops and manage work experience programs as needed
  • Engage in community outreach to connect residents with available programs and services
  • Maintain accurate client records using the Accountability and Resource Management System (ARMS)
  • Prepare and submit monthly activity and quarterly reports
Qualifications
  • Completion of a related post-secondary program or equivalent relevant experience
  • Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) designation is essential, though candidates with strong experience and relevant qualifications in career development and community employment services are also encouraged to apply
  • Experience in employment or career counselling preferred
  • Community outreach experience in a non-profit or community-based setting is an asset
  • Active driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • A satisfactory certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check is required

Work Hours: The position will be 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, flexible hours will be required for events and engagements.
