General Description

The communications department (CD) is responsible for facilitating, developing, and maintaining all forms of communication with the constituency of Insight for Living Canada (IFLC). The communications specialist supports the communications and marketing director and collaborates with other departments to help serve our constituents in ways that are consistent with IFLC’s mission and values, encouraging ongoing ministry engagement and advancing the mission of the ministry. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid position based at our head office in Abbotsford, BC.

Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to edit and proofread content for accuracy and clarity
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite and comfort learning and working with other software applications
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and co-ordination skills
  • Creative, adaptable, and detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
  • Experience developing and implementing multi-channel communication strategies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Diploma or degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field (an asset, not required)
Starting Salary Range

$50,000–$55,000 CAD per year, with an annual Health Spending Account of $2,000+

Core Job Functions

Content Management and Strategy

  • Support the development and execution of content for ministry materials, projects, and constituent communications in alignment with IFLC’s brand and a pastoral orientation and tone
  • Assisting with the planning, writing, approving, and production of print and digital publications, appeal letters, and other collateral
  • Editing, proofing, and approving all other written ministry materials and resources to ensure clarity, consistency, brand alignment and across platforms
  • Working with our marketing co-ordinator to develop promotions as needed
  • Creating marketing-related content as needed
  • Tracking on-going, seasonal, and new initiatives

Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Working alongside the ministry relations department to support excellent constituent care and clear, timely communication
  • Assisting with cross-departmental initiatives related to constituent growth and development
  • Supporting the preparation of special mailings, including collaborating with the project and design manager and operations and ministry relations director on segmentation, printing, and fulfilment processes.
  • Assisting with the collection and organization of metrics in collaboration with other department to support tracking and ministry impact
