A leading financial services company in Toronto seeks an IT Business Services Intern who will support technical teams, generate key risk reports, and assist in business requirement documentation. Candidates should have completed their 2nd year in a relevant education path such as Math, Financial Management, Computer Science, or Engineering, with experience in financial services seen as an asset. A full-time intern position offers valuable exposure to the financial sector in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a postsecondary program, preferably in Math, Financial Management, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • At least two cooperative work terms completed, experience in Financial Services is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical teams with data validation and system review.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure requirements are documented and implemented.
  • Participate in sprint planning and functional unit testing.
  • Generate and validate data for key risk indicator reports.

Job description

The purpose of the IT Business Services department provides development and post-production support for the following applications that support the loans and deposit business areas.

The department is responsible for:
  • Capturing business requirements from the business and assisting in user acceptance testing
  • Translating business requirements into system requirements
  • Development and configuration
  • Perform unit testing
  • Perform system integration testing
  • Supporting day to day activities and issues for Finance, Mortgages and deposit teams
Key Responsibilities (minimum weighting = 10%)
  • Support technical teams as required for data validation, required changes, system review.
  • Help prepare business requirements documents and user stories
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to ensure requirements are clearly documented, understood, and implemented
  • Participate in platform teams to refine user stories, sprint planning/execution, and executing functional unit testing to validate delivery of enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Monitoring the status currency of incident, change request tickets and postproduction support tickets
  • Proactively identifying issues and risks, and following up on action items
  • Support teams as required in day to day resolution of issues.
  • Generating, reviewing, and validating data for the departments key risk indicator reports
  • Perform monthly service level agreements reports.
Education Requirement:
  • Enrolled and successfully completed 2nd year of postsecondary education
  • Math, Financial Management, Computer Science, or Engineering
Years of Experience:
  • At least two cooperative work terms completed
  • Experience in Financial Services would be an asset
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, Skills:
  • Strong customer-service skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment
  • MS Office Suite, medium to expert level with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycles and scrum framework is an asset
  • Strong verbal & written communication
  • Initiative and willingness to work beyond core hours as required
  • Organizational and problem solving skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Attention to detail
  • Project and process management skills
  • Demonstrated quick learner with technology
  • Capable of working independently and addressing issues until resolution.
