Overview

Join Our Team as a CNC Precision Tool Grinder at Johnson Electric! Location: Waterloo, ON, Canada (onsite). Salary Range: $33.00 hourly. Vacancy Type: Existing position. Schedule: Days, Afternoons, Nights, or Continental Shifts (fast-paced manufacturing environment).

As our next CNC Precision Tool Grinder, you’ll be at the forefront of setting up and operating 5-axis CNC grinding equipment to perform complex machining operations to close-tolerance specifications. Your expertise in CNC grinding, blueprint interpretation, GD&T, and precision measurement will be crucial in driving our success and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Setting up and operating 5-axis CNC grinding machines to sharpen and recondition carbide tools.
  • Performing frequent changeovers for small-quantity custom orders.
  • Using precision measuring tools and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and adjusting CNC grinding equipment.
  • Entering CNC programs, conducting inspections, and ensuring parts meet close-tolerance specifications.
  • Maintaining cleanliness, safety, and organization of work areas.
What We’re Looking For
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience in CNC machining, tool grinding, or precision machining.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including basic trigonometry.
  • Ability to read blueprints, process sheets, and follow traceability procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus Points If You Have
  • Post-secondary education in machining, tool & die, manufacturing technology, or related field.
  • Experience with 5-axis CNC grinding equipment.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS and industrial safety requirements.
