Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Coordinator, and working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Substance Use Clinician provides culturally safe individual and group clinical response and psychotherapeutic services to adults with mental health and substance use issues; participates in planning and assessment of community resources and client needs, liaising with relevant community services, linking the Substance Use program with other service agencies and providing consultation and education on mental health and substance use services to other service providers and maintaining clinical records.

QUALIFICATIONS

Masters of Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work.

Current clinical registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW).

Experience with crisis intervention, urgent response for clients in the community, individual treatment and group psychotherapy work. Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, Legislative Acts, and Mental Health & Substance use policy.

Two (2) years recent, related experience working with adult clientele in a mental health and substance use facility/program or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
