About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Adult Outpatient - Mental Health & Addictions, the Clinical Therapist, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, is responsible for the delivery of time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to adults (19 years and older) with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders. All services are provided within a Stepped Care framework and practice is guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways. Each clinician participates in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments.

It is an expectation that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master’s Degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Master’s in Social Work, Psychology, Master’s in Counseling, Master’s in Nursing, or Master’s in Occupational Therapy)
  • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body or eligible
  • Minimum two (2) years of licensed related experience required including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning
  • In-depth understanding of harm reduction, addiction dynamics, and evidence-based interventions for addiction
  • Knowledge and understanding of DSM-5 criteria for classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders
  • Knowledge and skills in individual/group cognitive behavioral therapy and psycho-educational groups
  • Knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/intervention
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate in a multidisciplinary team
  • Basic competencies in identifying and treating concurrent mental health and substance use disorders
  • Experience in interviewing, counseling, and teaching health concepts to individuals, families, and groups
  • Knowledge and skills in collaborating with families and implementing family-sensitive services
  • Competencies in other languages are assets; French preferred

Minimum two (2) years of licensed clinical experience required. If not available, candidates with less than two (2) years of licensed experience may be considered for the selection process. If offered employment, they will be placed on the Clinical Therapist (Developmental) scale.

Hours
  • Long Assignment, Full-Time; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately 26 months
Compensation and Benefits

Clinical Therapist: $42.21 - $56.87 hourly
Clinical Therapist (Developmental): $37.64 - $48.72 hourly
