Position Overview
Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Dietitian or in a nutrition related profession.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree, Human Nutritional Sciences, dietetic or related area from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated required.
  • Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program which has been accredited by Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice including the Masters of Applied Human Nutrition from the University of Manitoba or a planned practicum as requested by the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current active registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
  • Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course within 6 months of hire.
  • Membership with Dietitians of Canada recommended.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of the Manitoba Long Term Care Standards.
  • Knowledge of behavior change counselling and client focused approaches and strategies.
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Knowledge of Total Parenteral Nutrition for positions located in the Regional Centres.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks with efficiency while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to evolving techniques and procedures in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an organized work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with staff, health care professionals and co‐workers, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive working relationship with all staff, residents, patients and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively within a collaborative health care team.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
Physical Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Will be required to support sites where vacation coverage/vacancies apply.
  • Will be required to support onboarding process for new dietitians upon hire.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
