Job summary

A healthcare provider in Ontario is seeking a Clinical Dietician to develop and implement nutrition care plans for patients. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, possess strong communication skills, and experience in clinical nutrition. Clinical Dietician – Diabetes and Outpatient Clinical Nutrition
Position Summary

The Clinical Dietitian collaborates with a team of health care providers to create nutrition care plans for clients/patients. The dietitian will assess nutrition and health needs, counsel clients and caregivers on nutrition issues, develop nutrition care plans, and monitor and evaluate the effects of the nutrition care plan.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Food and Nutrition Program.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Must currently possess a diabetes educator certificate or be working towards this designation.
  • Must currently possess CDE designation or be working towards this designation.
  • Current experience within the last two years in clinical nutrition with an understanding of learning methods, patient education and counselling principles, and proficiency in the application of new procedures.
  • Ability to be a good listener and have excellent communication skills.
  • Must have satisfactory work performance in present position.
  • Must have a proven good attendance record.
  • Must be willing to work at all Quinte Health sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Member of Dietitians of Canada.
  • Member of Diabetes Canada.
Duties
  • Assess the nutritional status and identify factors influencing the nutritional well‑being of patients/clients.
  • Implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate nutritional care plans.
  • Provide nutrition education/counselling to patients/clients and caregivers.
  • Utilize resources efficiently to support nutrition care.
  • Document patient care as per College of Dietitians of Ontario standards.
  • Participate in team meetings and/or care conferences as needed.
  • Evaluate service effectiveness and recommend and implement quality improvement measures.
  • Engage in ongoing continuing education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Physical Demands

Strength: Occasionally lifting and carrying an average of 5 pounds, pushing/pulling.

Mobility: Often prolonged sitting; occasionally standing and walking on hard surfaces.

Dexterity: Often reaching and prolonged fine finger movement; frequently gripping/grasping.
