GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Under the supervision and direction of the Site Manager, Systemic Therapy and Site Manager Outpatient Services, the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the daily planning, organizing and supervising of assigned operational aspects of the nursing department. The Clinical Coordinator monitors compliance with nursing practice standards in delivery of patient care and ensures the work environment enables and supports excellence in nursing practice and promotes high quality of work life and safety for nursing department staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
  • Completion of Oncology Nursing Certification CON(C) or equivalent. Where this is not complete, the successful candidate is required to obtain certification within two years of date of hire to the position.
  • Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C

Experience:

  • Five (5) years previous experience working in Oncology Nursing of which two (2) years must be in chemotherapy administration/organization.
  • One (1) year previous management/supervisory experience.

Memberships:

  • Current license with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Membership with Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) is an asset.
  • Membership with Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is an asset.

Skills:

  • Proficiency with a variety of computer systems and software applications.
  • Communication skills are required to develop and present complex information including written documentation and verbal presentations.
  • Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long term goals.
  • Initiative and independent judgment required to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.
  • Ability to teach and present information to persons over whom the incumbent may have no direct authority.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
