Job description
ABOUT US

At Just Us; We All Struggle Inc., we believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care—no matter their story. As a grassroots nonprofit, we’re proud to offer a low-barrier, flexible, and trauma-informed environment where both clients and clinicians are treated with dignity and care. We work with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular focus on those facing systemic barriers and complex trauma.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a Clinical & Community Lead to join our committed team. This is a high autonomy, highly flexible position ideal for an experienced clinician who thrives in a trauma-informed, client-centered setting. Primarily, you’ll provide clinical supervision to graduate-level interns and engage in training or workshop facilitation. Depending on the non-profit needs, you may offer therapy to a small caseload of high-risk, long-term clients—clients whose needs exceed what our interns can safely support.

Whether you're looking for a few meaningful days each week or something closer to full-time, we’ll work with you to shape a schedule and structure that fits your life.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Supervision & Leadership
  • Supervise and support our dedicated intern team (minimum 5 years post-graduate clinical experience required).
  • Provide weekly individual and group supervision, case consultation, and guidance to foster growth and confidence.
  • Promote reflective practice and uphold high ethical standards in student development.
Community & Capacity Building
  • Facilitate workshops, team presentations and/or group counselling to businesses, schools, non-profit partners and more.
  • Presentations and Community engagement with donors and government in partnership with the Executive Director
  • Offer input into program development and evaluation—we welcome your voice and ideas.
  • Help build a strong, collaborative clinical culture where everyone feels respected and heard.
Potential Clinical Work
  • Provide psychotherapy to high-risk clients—adults, children, couples or families.
  • Apply trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and equity-focused practices.
  • Tailor your therapeutic modalities to client needs, with flexibility and creativity.
  • Complete documentation and assessments in a way that’s both ethical and manageable.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Registered (or eligible) with a recognized regulatory body (e.g., LCT, RSW).
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience, including work with trauma and/or high-risk populations. THIS IS A REQUIREMENT FROM OUR UNIVERSITY PARTNERSHIPS AND GOVERNING BODIES, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE 5 YEARS POST-GRADUATE LEVEL CLINICAL EXPERIENCE.
  • Experience supervising students or new clinicians.
  • EMDR training is an asset, as is experience working with children or families.
  • Commitment to justice, accessibility, and flexibility in mental health care.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a supportive, non-hierarchical team.
WHY WORK WITH US
  • Ultra-flexible scheduling—set your own hours and caseload, with remote and in-person options.
  • No rigid productivity quotas—we value quality of care over quantity.
  • Collaborative, supportive team with regular check-ins and peer support.
  • A chance to shape services that meet community needs in creative, responsive ways.
  • The opportunity to mentor and lead while still doing meaningful clinical and community work.
