As the Clinical Chemist, you work alongside the Scientific Director of Chemistry, providing technical and scientific expertise in the discipline of Chemistry. You ensure a dedicated and national focus on science and technology issues, common standards, and discipline-specific planning. You are accountable for the excellence of Chemistry by developing innovative solutions, managing key initiatives, and continuously improving processes to support the achievement of your Immediate Manager’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives, all in alignment with Dynacare values.

How YOU will make a difference:
  • Provide input to Immediate Manager’s strategic and operational plans and directions and ensure ongoing effective positioning and integration of Chemistry throughout the organization to create and sustain success
  • Develop, implement, and review business plans within the context of the immediate manager’s strategic objectives
  • Ensure alignment of business plans and deliverables to achieve performance expectations and metrics
  • Assess competition and market opportunities and threats; recommend and implement appropriate plans
  • Ensure delivery of optimal Chemistry results against performance metrics, including quality, reliability, and accuracy of reports/results
  • Establish, monitor, and report on Chemistry performance metrics; analyze issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Plan and oversee budget requirements, technology, equipment, automation, quality assurance, and compliance needs
  • Provide leadership in the innovative use of science and technology, and enhance Dynacare’s scientific reputation
  • Serve as a resource for interpretation of Chemistry tests/results and method validation
  • Develop a comprehensive test menu to contribute to disease prediction, prevention, and management
  • Ensure Good Laboratory Medicine practices are followed, providing oversight and education for staff
  • Maintain external visibility through presentations, publications, and committee participation
  • Manage self for optimal performance and develop a culture of safety, quality, and innovation
  • Develop and review compliance mechanisms and risk mitigation processes
  • Build networks and promote Dynacare’s Chemistry profile in industry and community
What YOU bring to the role:
  • Knowledge of Clinical Biochemistry principles, techniques, and applications
  • Understanding of Standards and Regulatory Requirements in Laboratory Testing
  • Experience with Accreditation Canada and CAP requirements
  • PhD degree and certification (or eligibility) in clinical chemistry by CACB and/or ABCC, with at least 10 years’ experience
  • Ability to develop and implement business plans
  • Knowledge of clinical instrumentation and methodologies
  • Ability to assess technical performance and proficiency testing
  • Strong project management, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
