Job summary

Job Title: CJHS - Main Campus Sessional Instructors – Multiple Positions

Appointment Type: Casual Position

Dates: Winter Term 2026 – January 2026 to April 30, 2026

Hours per week/FTE: Varies

About the Position: Lethbridge Polytechnic is a student‑centred environment that provides practical and innovative learning experiences. The Centre for Justice and Human Services delivers a range of certificate, diploma, university transfer, and bachelor degree courses to students. The Centre is seeking applications for a sessional main campus instructor for a leave‑backfill in the Natural Resource Compliance and Conservation Enforcement Program. The positions commence in the Winter 2026 term and run until regular faculty return or end of term.

We are seeking instructors who have strong industry experience and are passionate about sharing that knowledge with our students.

Instructional Opportunities Available
  • CEN 2267 – Natural Resource Legislation (6 hours/week instruction)
  • CEN 3390 – Issues in Resource Enforcement (3 hours/week instruction)
  • COM 2263 – Interpersonal Skills in Enforcement (6 hours/week instruction)

Successful applicants must be on campus for course delivery. Schedule adjustment is possible, but opportunities are limited due to existing student schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering courses congruent with established course curricula and program outcomes.
  • Supporting the success of students with diverse cultural, educational and learning backgrounds.
  • Assessing student learning in ways that both facilitate learning and ensure achievement against appropriate academic standards.
  • Contributing to course materials and course outline maintenance.
  • Working collaboratively within programs and course teams.
  • Adhering to all Lethbridge Polytechnic’s policies, procedures and standards.
Required Qualifications

General Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Conservation Enforcement is required. Extensive direct industry experience (>20 years) may be considered equivalent.

Course Specific Requirements
CEN 2267
  • Direct and sustained (>10 years) industry experience in the delivery, application, and enforcement of natural resource legislation with a focus on fish, wildlife, and parks legislation.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant provincial and national natural resource legislation.
CEN 3390
  • Direct and sustained (>10 years) industry experience in the delivery, application, and enforcement of natural resource legislation with a focus on fish, wildlife, and parks legislation.
  • Senior level exposure to public and governmental issues affecting Resource Law Enforcement.
COM 2263
  • Direct industry experience in the delivery, application, and enforcement of natural resource legislation with a focus on fish, wildlife, and parks legislation.
  • Certification in Verbal Judo or Tactical Communications training.
Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree in a relevant discipline with undergraduate credential(s) in Conservation Enforcement, Natural Resource Compliance, or Natural Resource Law.

Salary: Commensurate with education in accordance with the current Lethbridge Polytechnic Faculty Association Collective Agreement Sessional Faculty grid.
