Overview
As the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), you will be the strategic force behind Purpose’s investment platform, unifying strategy across asset classes while modernizing infrastructure, talent, and technology to drive outstanding performance at scale. This is a leadership and platform-building role : the CIO will not be directly responsible for managing any investment mandates.
The CIO is accountable for delivering exceptional client outcomes through disciplined investment execution, innovative product strategy, and seamless cross-functional alignment.
As a visible leader internally and externally, the CIO attracts top talent, champions continuous improvement, and ensures the investment platform supports Purpose’s ambition to be Canada’s leading investment house with global reach.
Responsibilities
- Lead a Unified Investment Philosophy
- Define and evolve a forward-looking investment philosophy aligned with Purpose’s mission and long-term vision. Serve as a credible voice internally and externally.
- Modernize Investment Infrastructure
- Architect a high-performance, technology-driven platform that enables speed, accuracy, and scalability. Integrate automation, analytics, and systematic tools to support portfolio management and trading.
- Build and Develop Elite Talent
- Attract, mentor, and retain top investment professionals. Foster a culture of ownership, performance, and continuous learning.
- Embed a culture of discipline, innovation, and feedback. Continuously refine investment processes through data-driven reviews and global benchmarking.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with product, sales, and marketing teams to develop and commercialize innovative investment solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior investment leadership role, ideally as CIO or Head of Investments at a leading asset manager, pension fund, or institutional platform.
- Deep expertise across asset classes, portfolio construction, and risk management.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling investment platforms using technology and data.
- Strong leadership and people development skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to represent the firm in media, client engagements, and industry forums.
- Strategic thinker with a bias for action, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- CFA, MBA, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
