Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer - Commercial Operations (CFOCO) plays a pivotal role in BWXT Canada’s success, providing financial leadership and strategic direction for a business that powers critical energy solutions.
Location: On-site in Cambridge, Ontario
Effectiveness of the role at BWXT:
- Driving Performance: The CFO will enhance financial rigor and accountability by linking strategy to measurable results and fostering ownership across business units.
- Strategic Partnership: As a key advisor to the President and leadership team, the CFO ensures that financial insight and risk management are embedded into all operational and strategic decisions.
- Operational Synergy: By modernizing processes and leveraging data, performance management tools, and analytics, the CFO will improve the speed and accuracy of financial reporting, enabling agile and informed business decisions.
- Business Growth and Sustainability: The CFO’s leadership will position BWXT Commercial Operations for sustainable growth in domestic and international markets, ensuring readiness for future investments and evolving client needs.

Your Day to Day
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Shape and execute a financial strategy that advances BWXT’s Commercial Operations growth objectives.
- Advise senior leadership on long-term planning, capital allocation, and growth priorities.
- Evaluate the financial implications of new programs, partnerships, and regulatory changes to ensure alignment with corporate strategy.
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and insight.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and recommend actions to improve results.
- Drive transparency through meaningful financial metrics and reporting.
- Maintain a strong internal control framework that meets Canadian regulatory and corporate standards.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks proactively.
- Serve as the primary contact for audits and regulatory reviews.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Champion process innovation and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and decision quality.
- Simplify and standardize financial processes and reporting to improve clarity, speed, and consistency.
Cross Functional Business Partnership
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial leaders to embed financial accountability into business decisions.
- Deliver financial analysis and modeling to inform pricing, cost management, and contract performance.
- Partner on initiatives related to capital investment, margin optimization, and strategic growth.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team of approximately 45 professionals.
- Promote career development, succession planning and leadership capability across the finance organization.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation consistent with BWXT’s values.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; an MBA or CPA designation preferred.
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive financial leadership, including 5+ years overseeing a business segment or division.
- Proven ability to drive financial strategy, risk management, and performance improvement within complex industrial or manufacturing environments.
- Expertise in financial planning, forecasting, and reporting with a strong understanding of accounting and regulatory standards.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to partner effectively across teams and functions.
- Recognized for developing high-performing finance teams and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
