Job description
Overview

Health Standards Organization / Accreditation Canada (“HSO”) is seeking a visionary and purpose-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth, influence, and impact.

HSO is dedicated to unlocking the power and potential of people around the world who share its commitment to advancing high-quality health services for all. As a global leader, HSO specializes in the creation of world-class health standards, cutting-edge assessment methodologies, and practical tools and services that drive real-world impact. HSO operates in nearly 50 jurisdictions, including every province and territory in Canada, and takes a people-centered, system-wide approach to improving health and social services.

Role and responsibilities

As CEO, reporting to the Board of Directors, you will provide bold, visionary leadership that strengthens HSO’s standing as a global authority in people-powered health standards, accreditation, and innovation. You will craft and deliver a dynamic strategy, building partnerships, expanding HSO’s public and private sector client base, entering new markets, and amplifying the organization’s brand and influence in Canada and internationally.

With a strong foundation in innovation, inclusion, and performance, you will champion a collaborative and forward-thinking culture. Your leadership will empower a talented, diverse team to thrive in a fast-evolving sector. You will spearhead the modernization of HSO’s systems, integrate digital solutions to drive scalable impact, and embed long-term sustainability, resilience, and excellence in governance and accountability across the organization.

Qualifications and attributes

A compassionate, authentic, empowering, and trusted leader, you foster inclusive, high-performing, and collaborative cultures. You bring senior executive experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and are widely recognized as a catalyst for innovation and transformation. Your expertise spans business development, stakeholder engagement, government relations, and policy influence, all grounded in a global mindset and cultural fluency. You are adept at translating lived experiences of adversity into positive change. A background in healthcare transformation, integrative care, digital health, climate-resilient practices, and / or patient-partnered care would add significant value to this role.

A confident and persuasive communicator, you lead with clarity, diplomacy, and conviction. You are widely recognized for your ability to inspire followership. You combine commercial and financial acumen with a keen eye for emerging opportunities, knowing how to diversify revenue streams and inspire teams through change. Additionally, fluency in English, French and other languages, comfort with advanced technologies, and a well-developed international network would be valuable assets for this position.
