Duncan, BC - Ts'i'ts'uwatul' Lelum

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor, the Casual Second Cook is responsible for the basic cooking, baking, and preparation techniques of the kitchen operations of the Ts'i'ts'uwatul' Lelum Assisted Living facility. The successful candidate will work with the Kitchen Supervisor to provide high quality, low fat, low sugar, and low salt meals and baked goods that are palatable and nutritious. The Second Cook will assist with food purchasing, food production, and menu planning, and will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary working environment. The Second Cook will provide coverage for the Kitchen Supervisor as required. It is expected this role will represent MHS and embrace the vision to improve living conditions for Elders, seniors, and people living with disabilities.

Employment Type & Schedule

This is a casual position. Shifts are 7.5 hours, from 10:15 am to 6:15 pm, Sunday to Thursday. Compensation: $27.56 per hour.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Courses required and paid for by M’akola:
  • Food Safe Level II
  • Occupational First Aid Level I Certificate (updated every 3 years)
  • WHMIS and MSDS Certificate
