Job Title: Carpenter

Wage Rate and Hours: $31 per hour, 40 hours per week

Start date: as soon as possible

Job Location: various locations across Nova Scotia.

Job Requirements

Education: High School Education.

Experience: 1-2 years of related experience as a Carpenter is required.

Construction Projects: Residential, Commercial.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding; combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling.

Responsibilities
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures as per job requirement
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes using measuring tools
