CCIS (Calgary Catholic Immigration Society) is a nonprofit organization that provides settlement and integration services to all immigrants and refugees in Southern Alberta. Since our inception in 1981, we have been a community leader with solid experience in the design and delivery of comprehensive services for our newest neighbours. We deliver these services through a dynamic, multi-cultural, multi-denominational and multi-disciplinary team of professionals who collectively speak over 80 languages.

CCIS – Community Development and Integration Services (CDIS) Division

Our Community Development and Integration Services Division works towards empowering individuals and communities to make changes through education, volunteerism, and community development and integration strategies. CDIS is committed to creating a welcoming community and helping newcomers and the community alike work together to build an inclusive community. CDIS programs support this goal through various community approaches, including volunteerism, education, outreach, community development, and capacity building for cultural diversity.

Job Summary

Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS) is seeking a Program Facilitator for the Canada Connects Program and is accepting applications from qualified job seekers!

Provides specific program delivery in the Canada Connects Program through volunteer recruitment, matching, monitoring, volunteer training, special events, special initiatives and administrative data reporting support. Promotes the Canada Connects Program in the community to recruit volunteers and increase public awareness of the program and the needs of newcomers. Known for its focus on serving newcomers and innovative, collaborative community partnerships.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Recruit, train, monitor, and provide ongoing support and appreciation to community volunteers
  • Ability to plan, implement activities and assess needs for complex multi-barrier clients
  • Coordinate appropriate group activities and conduct various administrative tasks based on client needs
  • Coordinate program annual events and activities for clients and volunteers
  • Conduct regular intakes and needs assessments with newcomers
  • Maintain up-to-date and relevant community resources/support systems for volunteers (update as necessary on program blog, newsletter, and through personal contact with volunteers)
  • Submit a program report and evaluation on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Maintain client files in the IRCC database
  • Facilitate and supervise volunteer matches with newcomers
  • Market the Canada Connects program to the community
  • Maintain complete records of volunteer and client information and program activities
  • Work effectively on the Canada Connects Team and deliver the program through webinar platforms
Qualifications and Skills
  • Related post-secondary degree: Social Work, Community Development, Volunteer Management
  • Experience in working with diverse cultures
  • Knowledge of Calgary community resources
  • demonstrate creativity and initiative in varying planning of activities
  • Proficient in using the latest versions of Microsoft Office and webinar platforms
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Knowledge of settlement needs and issues
  • Working knowledge and demonstration of the application of new technologies is essential
  • Second language an asset
  • AAISA Training/accreditation is an asset
  • background in social research, immigration studies or related field is an asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • A driver’s license and vehicle are required
