Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer II is responsible to managing all purchases within their line of business area. The duties may include, but not be limited to, obtaining quotations, evaluation of proposals, award of purchase orders, and expediting the delivery of goods and services. The Buyer II will adhere and train stakeholders in processes and procedures governing financial and supply chain controls.

As a Buyer II, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
  • Ability to execute best in class supply chain concepts in daily work assignments;
  • Formulating and executing Purchase Orders, in accordance with system driven demand planning and/or approved requisitions;
  • Providing reporting and management of line of business procurement activities.
  • Providing sourcing strategies for total cost of ownership, long lead, and volume based buying activities.
  • Generating requests for proposals, bids and sourcing documents related to the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services and materials;
  • Ability to quote bill of material lists to support business development
  • Ability to develop a negotiation plan, negotiate with vendors, and a general understanding of commercial contract law.
  • Providing expediting report and strategies to mitigate of risk through supply chain solutions.
  • Resolving quality control and any problematic orders with vendors;
  • Organizing, chairing and mediating vendor meetings on behalf of the organization, including maintaining records for line of business procurement activities.
  • Evaluating supplier performance through key performance indicators
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the company suppliers, in accordance with the ethical code and standards of conduct maintaining the highest standard of professionalism;
  • Providing analytics, as required, to support buying activities which may include changes on price, sourcing activities, cost benefit decision making, leading indicators, activity levels, or project tracking;
  • Providing reports detailing cost savings and avoidances or notable supply chain achievements;
  • Organize and provide record keeping including copies of quotes, proposals and correspondence for team
  • Ability to collaborate with team members remotely and within an office environment
  • Ability to multi-task to manage priorities, multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Ability to travel when required to vendor locations or Leonardo DRS offices
What you require to be successful in the role:
  • A Degree, Diploma or Designation in Supply Chain Management considered an asset;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience;
  • Experience in Engineering, Defense or Aerospace considered an asset;
  • Ability to work in an ERP system
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Has a high attention to detail
  • Works well within a team
