Job description

As a Business Analyst Student, you will support the Business Insights & Analytics team in managing and interpreting customer, sales, and financial data to help drive strategic decisions across Irving Oil. You’ll work on reporting, profitability analysis, and process improvements that contribute to operational efficiency and business growth.

The Business Insights & Analytics team, located at our Crown Street office, focuses on data management and reporting across various business lines. This includes analyzing customer data, sales volumes, margins, and expenses to support daily operations and long-term planning. The team maintains a suite of recurring reports and responds to ad hoc data requests, helping internal stakeholders make informed decisions based on accurate and timely insights.

Responsibilities
  • Perform ad hoc project work involving data analysis and business performance evaluation
  • Analyze branch profitability to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement
  • Review logistics expenses and recommend cost-saving strategies
  • Support Power BI initiatives including report automation, mapping, and migration
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing daily reporting tools used across the organization
Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset
  • Effective communication skills for presenting insights and collaborating with stakeholders
  • Attention to detail when working with financial and operational data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to team-based projects
