1st AM Route: Transporting students to North Queens Community Schools

Serving areas: Hwy 208, Molega Rd, Labelle Rd & Hwy 8

1st PM Route: Transporting students from North Queens Community Schools

Serving areas: Hwy 208, Molega Rd, Labelle Rd & Hwy 8

Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license (class 2B Bus driver’s license with air brake endorsement).
  • Completion of South Shore Regional School Board bus driver training course or equivalent.

Task Dimensions

Operates assigned vehicle safely and in compliance with relevant regulations and policies, for example:

  • The National Safety Code, the Motor Carrier Act, the Registry of Motor Vehicle Regulations, Board Policy and internal procedures as established from time to time by the Transportation Manager.
  • Enforces safety rules and discipline on the school bus according to the Board policy and the Motor Carrier Regulations.
  • Uses good judgment in determining road conditions during inclement weather and Advises Transportation Manager whether or not such conditions pose a hazard to transporting students safely.

Ensures his/her bus is well maintained, for example:

  • Cleans inside and outside of the bus daily.
  • Reports any mechanical or body repair problems to the Lead Head Mechanic.

Submits in a timely fashion, any necessary driver records and reports, for example:

  • Time and Mileage reports, Extra Curricular Trip forms, Fuel Consumption, School Bus Discipline Reports, Vehicle Accident Report forms, Student Information Sheets, and National Safety Code – Daily Log.
  • Hours may change due to overnight resting spot. For permanent positions, a new time and meterage must be completed within one week of starting the route.
