RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate the bus in a safe and effective manner in order to minimise the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life;
  • Follow all relevant legislation, policies and procedures;
  • Perform safety and maintenance checks of the bus pre‑trip and post‑trip;
  • Advise the Transportation Coordinator of any requirements for maintenance or repairs;
  • Pick up and deliver students as per a set schedule;
  • Ensure students are aware of rules and responsibilities as passengers;
  • Make note of any behavioural or disciplinary issues;
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Meet the minimum age requirements to hold a school bus driver’s licence in the province of Ontario;
  • Hold a class B licence;
  • Must hold a valid (non‑probationary) driver’s licence for Ontario;
  • Possess a very good driving record;
  • Must undergo pre‑employment drug testing with satisfactory results and comply with our random drug check policy for student safety;
  • Must be safety‑minded, courteous and able to demonstrate an appreciation of the importance of customer service;
  • Must enjoy driving and working with children.
