Job description

We are currently seeking a full-time Building Manager for a high-rise residential building (23 floors and 25 units) located in Downtown Vancouver, for a permanent position. The Building Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of a property or facility. This role ensures building maintenance, painting, and handyman services.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Using a power washing machine for various maintenance tasks, including cleaning sidewalks, driveways, parking garages, and the exterior of buildings.
  • Programming key fobs, enter-phones, and handling email communication
  • Checking all common areas (hallways, mechanical, electrical rooms)
  • Completing monthly fire safety checklists (required by the City Fire Department)
  • Regular cleanup of mechanical, electrical, and storage rooms
  • Basic security tasks: checking doors, reporting suspicious activity
  • Reporting to the strata manager and strata council
  • High-level security tasks: asking people to leave, checking camera footage
  • Submitting monthly reports to the strata council and strata manager
  • Collecting funds as directed by the Property Manager
  • Meeting with trades, spending time with them, and reporting back to strata
  • Meeting with residents, listening to them, and resolving basic issues
  • Attending council meetings when invited
  • Attending to in-suite issues such as water leaks, doors, windows, and reporting back
  • Performing basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting from industry experience
  • Picking up and delivering essential items and supplies
  • Completing basic telecommunication and computer troubleshooting
  • In the absence of the concierge, the Building Manager will provide support with tasks such as move-ins and move-outs, enterphone management, and fob requests
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in facility management, preferably in residential settings
  • Experienced with using a power washing machine
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Possess a keen eye for detail
  • Customer service experience is an asset
  • Basic computer skills (email, Word documents)
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English
  • Ability to deal with residents in a professional, positive, and friendly manner
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Pay:
  • $24 - $25 per hour
Schedule:
  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday, 8 am - 4 pm
Experience:
  • Building Manager: 2 years (preferred)
  • Handyman: 2 years (preferred)
