SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for leading all aspects of workforce planning, training, and operational excellence at the brewery. The position oversees the development and delivery of comprehensive training programs for all staff, including unionized team members and skilled technicians, ensuring alignment with the brewery’s strategic goals and compliance requirements.

Key duties include managing the master schedule, coordinating with department leaders, and supporting payroll, benefits, and labor relations. The role is also accountable for fostering a culture of continuous improvement by identifying skills gaps, upskilling employees, and supporting leadership development. Collaboration with HR, EHS, and other stakeholders is essential to ensure regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and operational efficiency.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the brewery’s training program for all staff, including unionized team members and skilled technicians.
  • Payroll & Benefits: Support payroll processing, benefit administration, and annual payouts.
  • Employee Engagement: Organize social events and handle wellness initiatives
  • Workforce Planning: Own and manage the master brewery schedule (vacations, hiring, training, layoffs), identifying and addressing staffing gaps.
  • Align training initiatives with the brewery’s Autonomous Teams strategy to empower frontline staff and foster servant leadership.
  • Collaboration: Lead weekly workforce meetings with all departments to coordinate scheduling and production plans.
  • Develop and deliver training in multiple formats (classroom, on-the-job, coaching, written procedures).
  • Track and document training progress, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance by coordinating with the Environment, Health, and Safety Manager.
  • Collaborate with HR and department heads to support leadership development and career progression.
  • Reporting: Prepare daily labor reports and participate in daily management meetings.
  • Training & Compliance: Manage training logistics, legal documentation, and purchase orders.
  • Office Management: Oversee office supplies, budget, and schedule management in Dayforce.
  • Labor Relations: Participate in investigations, grievance resolution, and maintain seniority lists.
  • Administrative Support: Prepare employment confirmation letters, track stipends, and manage beer chit allocations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field considered an Asset (or equivalent experience)
  • HR, Training certification, and or brewery/manufacturing experience is considered an asset
  • 3+ years’ experience in workforce planning, training, or operations (preferably in a unionized or manufacturing setting)
  • Strong skills in scheduling, payroll/benefits, and HRIS systems (e.g., Dayforce)
  • Experience delivering training to diverse teams
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (EHS, labor standards)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
  • Experience with labor relations and conflict resolution
