Overview

Harbinger Network has partnered with a Large Financial Services/Insurance Firm looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team and contribute significantly to the daily accounting operations of our organization. This is a hands-on role, well-suited for a proactive professional with a solid background in full-cycle accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of key functions, including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, commission processing, financial reporting, and audit preparation and support. This role is 100% remote, hours are 8-5PM.

Responsibilities
  • Process all Accounts Payable (AP) transactions, ensuring timely payments to vendors and agent commissions.
  • Record daily carrier deposits to ensure accurate tracking of all incoming funds.
  • Liaise with third-party auditors and prepare relevant schedules for financial review and audits.
  • Monitor and reconcile daily bank transactions to ensure accurate cash flow tracking.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports to support internal decision making and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and necessary adjustments, ensuring accurate reflection in financial statements.
  • Ensure that all monthly transactions are accurately processed and reflected in the trial balance.
  • Assist in maintaining confidential employee files, supporting HR functions as required.
  • Generate and maintain weekly timesheets to ensure accurate tracking of employee hours.
  • Process commission payments for employees and agents as per established guidelines.
  • Assist in preparing necessary documentation for onboarding new employees.
  • Assist with preparing documentation for regulatory compliance, including financial and tax reporting, and year-end payroll tax documents.
  • Provide support for ad-hoc financial analysis, reporting, or other tasks as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a full-cycle accounting role is required.
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related program is required.
  • Working towards a CPA designation is preferred.
  • Experience within a financial services environment is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software, Excel (Pivot Tables/ V-Lookups).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Deep understanding of business operations and financial interconnectivity, with the ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
