Automotive Body Technician / Painter

Steele Chevrolet Saint John (Cleveland Design) is seeking an Automotive Body Technician / Painter to join our team!

Cleveland Design is currently looking for experienced body techs. Applicants must have previous experience within the industry or similar industries. Body techs need to be proficient in doing filler work to a high level of quality. Experience in straightening and sharpening of panels along with accurately gaping body panels is crucial.

Responsibilities
  • Assembly and disassembly of vehicles
  • Body work prep
  • Masking, priming, sanding, buffing & paint
  • Welding + Metal work
  • Frame straightening
  • Structural repairs on vehicles
  • Design, cut, shape, and form sheet metal to create custom body panels, components, and parts for classic and custom vehicles.
  • Modify and fit pre-existing parts to ensure precise alignment and aesthetic appeal.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and spot welding to assemble and secure metal components.
  • Ensure all welds meet structural integrity and aesthetic standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and CAD drawings to accurately fabricate custom parts.
  • Paint prep and painting
Requirements
  • Experience as a body Technician
  • Excellent diagnostic skills, pride in workmanship, team player
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and be able to provide an acceptable driver abstract.
  • Facial hair will interfere with the ability to achieve a proper seal on CSA-approved respirators; therefore, it is a requirement that staff must be clean-shaven. If you are unable to maintain a clean shave where the respirator seals to the face for any reason, please inform us in the form of a request for accommodation.
