Beverage Manager — TO Live, Toronto, Canada
TO Live is seeking a dynamic and experienced Beverage Manager to join the Patron and Event Services team on a full-time basis.
The Beverage Manager will lead beverage and concession operations across our three venues. This role is pivotal in driving revenue, enhancing guest experiences, and maintaining top-tier service and compliance standards. The ideal candidate is a creative leader with a passion for hospitality and a proven track record in high-volume or event-based environments.
This position reports to the Director of Patron & Event Services and/or their designate. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Service: Oversee all beverage and concession services, ensuring smooth execution aligned with revenue targets.
- Operations & Service: Develop and implement SOPs to maintain consistency in product quality, speed of service, and guest satisfaction.
- Operations & Service: Ensure compliance with alcohol service laws, health and safety standards, and licensing requirements.
- Operations & Service: Collaborate with department management to tailor offerings based on event type, audience demographics, and artist rider specifications.
- Operations & Service: Maintain fast, accurate service and uphold quality standards.
- Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing beverage team focused on sales and service excellence.
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage staffing levels across multiple venues and event types.
- Team Leadership & Development: Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Team Leadership & Development: Set performance goals, provide coaching, and conduct regular evaluations.
- Team Leadership & Development: Promote professionalism, guest service excellence, and alignment with TO Live’s values.
- Team Leadership & Development: Address performance issues constructively and maintain a respectful, inclusive work environment.
- Financial & Inventory Management: Oversee cash handling, post-event reconciliation, and accurate financial reporting.
- Financial & Inventory Management: Monitor beverage costs, control waste, and enforce loss prevention measures.
- Financial & Inventory Management: Conduct monthly inventory, weekly par checks, and ordering.
- Financial & Inventory Management: Manage purchasing, inventory, and vendor relations to ensure stock levels and cost control.
- Guest Experience & Program Development: Monitor guest feedback and service metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Guest Experience & Program Development: Maintain expert knowledge of all beverage offerings, including spirits, wine, beer, and cocktails.
- Guest Experience & Program Development: Assist in developing and executing beverage menus, seasonal features, and cocktail programs.
- Guest Experience & Program Development: Introduce fresh, trendy ideas to stay ahead of local competition.
- Guest Experience & Program Development: Be present on the floor during events to supervise service flow, engage with guests, and support staff.
Qualifications
- 2 – 4 years of experience in Beverage or Food & Beverage Management, preferably in high-volume or event-based settings.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, develop, and motivate staff.
- Strong knowledge of mixology, wine service, craft beer, and beverage cost controls.
- Certification in alcohol service and food safety is a strong asset.
- Experience in scheduling, inventory, payroll, and staff relations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- The position may require handling and lifting items (up to 30 lbs). Accommodations can be made where appropriate.

- Variable hours of work depending on event schedules including late nights.
- Travel between TO Live venues as required.

TO Live is one of Canada’s largest multi-arts organizations, operating three iconic venues: Meridian Hall, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and Meridian Arts Centre. TO Live presents a full range of performing arts, theatrical and concert events at these venues in both downtown and uptown Toronto.
